A MAN USES A DEEP SEA SPONGE, DEEP SEA MINERALS, AND SEA WATER FROM A DEPTH OF THREE THOUSAND FEET TO CLEAN THE DUST FROM HIS SILHOUETTE IN A DISREGARDED MIRROR.

to lick the palms of your hands
is what I long for

to eat the dough
kneaded with your fists

to take the bacteria
living on your skin
into my mouth
out through my skin

to make the missing minerals mine

the better part of my creativity
already pulped to make paper
already shredded to feed the goats
already mashed to make potatoes
that will stick below my esophagus

I’m going to go home
and shave my head so close

whisper into the razor
never go home boy
never go home
and never stay long

humbled, I dig into the wasteland
that has been the
winter turning to spring

the lost duration
the smothering smog and missing persons report
found only in mirrors

that the dust in the evening light
is a fine powder of what is left of me

is a fitting portrait of myself kneeling before myself kneeling
