THERE WAS ONCE A HOUSE THAT HAD ITS ELECTRIC METER SYNCHRONIZED WITH A 33RPM RECORD OF HAYDN’S SYMPHONY NO. 75 IN D MAJOR, 2ND MOVEMENT BY THE TURNING ON OF ALL THE LIGHTS & APPLIANCES WITHIN; THIS METER WAS THEREAFTER EASED TO A COMPLETE STOP BY SEQUENTIALLY THROWING ALL OF THE BREAKERS.

sometime toward evening
my head comes around...

sometime around evening
when twilight is electric...

sometime just before evening
a swelling...

It’s that breeze that flows
just above the surface of the creek
the one that flows invisibly parallel
that wanders out of the woods
and into the nostrils, into the bloodstream
and with it arrives a coalescence of
every memory you will ever have

I think of the clergyman from Haydn’s London notebooks...

“On the 26th March (1792), at Mr. Barthelemon’s Concert, an English clergyman was present who fell into the most profound melancholy on hearing the Adante (Symphony no. 75, 2nd movement) : because he had dreamt the previous night that this piece was a premonition of his death.  He left the company at once and took to his bed.  Today, the 25th of April, I heard from Herr Barthelemon that this protestant clergyman had died.”

mostly us
not you and I
just us

even after these
thirty three and a third years of orbiting
I still cannot distinguish
between my dreams and my memories
or the self-fulfilling prophecies somewhere in between
so I guess there is no reason to sleep anymore

we have these cycles
round, again, repeat
equal if not opposite
I should learn something from the hot & cold
late summer combination
that the northeast has to offer

there is everywhere between hot and cold
there is here, there is Batavia, and there is Geneva
in this everywhere are all the places we rarely meet

I think of the Large Hadron Collider...
